     Physical Education Class Format

 Students at all grade levels will participate in 40 minute PE  classes 2x a week. 

 Each class period is divided into four parts:

 

     1) Warm-up (3-5 minutes)           

            The purpose of the warm-up is to prepare the students for the intensity of physical activity or exertion by increasing their blood flow the major muscles groups.

     2) Fitness Activity (5-7 minutes)

            The purpose of the fitness activity is to involve the students in a vigorous activity to improve their physical fitness.  Students will learn the components of fitness   and the value of life long fitness and wellness.

    3) Instructional Activity (15-25 minutes)

            The purpose of the instructional activity is to teach the students valuable skills necessary to participate in physical activity, as well as, to provide them the opportunity to practice these skills.

    4) Closing Activity (3-5 minutes)

            The purpose of the closing activity is to provide the student with  a cumulating activity that reflects the instructional activity in a fun and relaxing manner.
