Hello!
My name is Danelle Addison. I am excited to be teaching kindergarten at J.T. Waugh. I want to share a little bit about myself. I live in Angola with my husband and two daughters Alexis (15) and Jacey (10). I grew up in Angola and I am proud to say I am a product of Lake Shore. I have been teaching at Lake Shore for the past five years. Before that I worked as the director/teacher of Community Nursery School in the Village of Angola.
I just wanted to share with you my philosophy of my kindergarten classroom.
Today children come to kindergarten with varied backgrounds, due to many home experiences, nursery schools, travel and television. Although they may have more exposure to academic knowledge, my concern is the total child. Their physical, social, emotional and academic needs must be considered and developed for a well-balanced program.
Kindergarten is the time to develop in an informal as well as the beginning of a formal setting.
The aim of an effective kindergarten program is to provide a learning environment which is flexible so that children will find varied opportunities in which they can learn social behavior which benefit both the individual and group, develop critical learning, learn to solve problems, discover, collect and classify information about the world, build and clarify concepts, extend present knowledge and experience, learn about words, and explore the usage and meanings for effective communication with others. But the most important thing to remember is that we can learn by having fun!!! I look forward to great year.
