Seniors, representing the Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams, traveled to several of the elementary classrooms in the District to sit and read to the students before leaving for the holiday break.  The student-athletes donned their LSC uniforms and spent some time with the potential “Future Eagles”, sharing some game experiences, stories and their time.

Athletic Director Daryl Besant, who spearheaded this effort, along with the Varsity Coaches and Lake Shore Alumni Andrea Mungovan and Dan Gerken, commented, “Our student-athletes are committed to being contributing members of our school community.”  Seniors members of the Boys team, Erik Marx, Sean Bellomo, RC Hubbard and Mike Waring accompanied Paige Anderson, Brittany Mazzu, Katherine Caboot, Erin Parker, and Allissa Schmidt of the Girls team on this Basketball and Books adventure.  This latest project comes on the heels of the LSC Athletic Department’s announcement of Josh Gotsch (Football) and Kyle Benzing (Volleyball) being named to the All-WNY Scholar Athlete team.

“As an athletic department, one of our goals is to help our student-athletes move on to the college level,” Besant added.  “Most schools are now looking for community service experiences and more than just statistics and highlights.  We are continually trying to grow our Athletic Department’s commitment to our student-athletes and our entire school community."
