Grade 8 Mathematics Course Expectations

Mrs V. Smith

Welcome to 8th grade! Our time together is limited and precious; we have much to do, but before we get underway please read over the following.

My Expectations:

As eighth graders, all students are expected to act as ladies and gentlemen, respectively, and are held accountable for their actions.

Course Description/Outline:

We will be working from the McDougall Littell Pre-Algebra Textbook.

All tests will be cumulative, quizzes will focus on individual sections.

Quizzes may or may not be announced so therefore it is important that you review material daily.

Homework:

Homework will most often be assigned daily. If no homework is assigned it is expected that class material will be studied.

If homework is not handed in during class it must be in by tenth period or the student will be required to stay during eleventh period to complete it.

Homework a day late will not be accepted for credit.

Attendance:

If you are absent, work must be made up within the number of days that you were absent.

If you have an appointment within school that causes you to miss class, you must notify me the day before. Your homework will still be due on the day of your appointment by 2:15pm. You are also responsible for getting missed notes and completing that night's assignment.

Extra Help:

I am available daily from 2:20 to 2:55, unless otherwise announced. As situations occur, I am willing to be flexible.

Due to the intensity and fast pace of class, it is important that you complete missed homework assignments.

Parents:

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me.
