Introductory letter : Letter - Opening Day
September 4, 2008
Dear Parents, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child back to the Brant Elementary School. I believe that parents are an essential part of the educational process, so it is important that we establish and maintain open communication between home and school. If you have any questions or concerns at any time, please contact me at 549-2300 Ext. 2182. This is a direct line to the classroom - so leave a voicemail and I will return your call as soon as possible. My e-mail address is This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it I believe that all students are entitled to a safe and orderly environment in school and that they can behave appropriately in the classroom. I will NOT tolerate any student interfering with my teaching or with the learning of the other students. I have therefore established these rules for our classroom and ask you to discuss them with your child and emphasize that they must adhere to them. 1. Pay attention!!!! No talking during lessons or study periods. Look up, listen, and focus when the teacher is teaching. 2. Listen and follow directions the first time they are given. 3. Be prepared!!!! Have all assignments and materials ready at the beginning of each class. 4. Raise your hand and wait to be recognized if you have a question. 5. Be courteous and always show respect for others. Homework is an essential part of your child’s success in school. It requires responsibility, organization, time management, and gives practice in areas of study. Your child is expected to complete all assignments neatly, thoroughly, and on time. Any work which is not done neatly will have to be redone. Parents play a key role in making homework a positive experience for their child. Therefore, I ask that you make homework a priority, provide necessary materials, a quiet homework location, set a daily homework time, and provide praise and support. Students are expected to do their own work and only ask for help when they have given it their best effort. Please contact me if there is a homework problem. The two most important tools your child will be using this year are the agenda and the homework folder. Each day, your child will be writing down their daily assignments in their agenda. All work is to be kept in the homework folder. Assume if your child has written an assignment in their agenda, you should see the work completed in the homework folder by the end of the evening. PLEASE SIGN YOUR CHILD’S AGENDA DAILY indicating that they have completed their assignments. DO NOT SIGN if you do not see an assignment that is written in the agenda. As a reward, students will have the opportunity to become “Star Student of the Week” and on a monthly basis, students that fulfill their responsibilites (Friday Folder signed, agenda signed and homework completed) will be able to eat in the classroom and have dessert provided by the teacher. Thank you very much for your help and I am looking forward to working with you and your child. Sincerely, Mrs. MaryBeth Brumagin Hits : 191 Site Last Updated : 2008-11-05 13:24:59 |
