Library Skills-Mrs. Cloos
The Sixth Grade Library Skills Class introduces the students to the resources, books, databases, etc. in the media center. Students will learn where everything is located and how to access these materials. Through a series of various activities and games they discover how to use the many resources in the library. Students will also be able to check out books for projects, research, and recreational reading. General Music-Ms. Parsons Students in 6th Grade General Music listen to music examples from Classics to Modern music to learn about the form of music. We learn bass and treble clef note-reading as well as basic rhythms - reading and playing on various instruments. We explore the connection of music to literature, math and social studies. Singing and playing the keyboards are an important part of 6th grade General Music, as well as studying world instruments and traditional instruments of the orchestra. Projects include "Music in the News" and making a musical instrument! 6th Grade Foriegn Language Each student will be given a unique opportunity in 6th grade to study fours languages. On a rotating basis, each student will receive instruction in French, German, Seneca and Spanish for 10 weeks, every other day. Culture, simple phrases and basic language skills will be taught. It is a chance to see what each language is about before choosing ont to take in 7th & 8th grade. It is a fun and interesting way to learn about the world around you.
