  2. Excessive tardiness (3 times and every time thereafter) will result in staying for detention with your teacher/office.

Classroom Policies:

Student responsibilities

  • Be on time and prepared with all necessary supplies

  • Complete all assignments before coming to class

  • Raise your hand and wait for the teacher to call on you to speak during class

  • Observe all safety rules

  • Respect others as well as yourself

  • Ask for help when needed

Teacher Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe learning environment

  • Be available for extra help during advisement and help class

  • Communicate concerns with parents

  • Provide varied instructional methods

  • Evaluate and provide feedback on student work in a timely manner

Lab Policy:

According to NYS Board of Regents, each student must successfully complete 1200 minutes of actively engaged laboratory experience to be eligible for the exam. This must be evidenced by completion of satisfactory (passing) lab reports. Lab reports will be kept on file. Each lab activity counts for a specific amount of time toward the 1200-minute requirement. Lab reports are always given an assigned due date and are due at the beginning of class on that date. If they are turned in later the same day, they are considered to be one day late.

Lab work not completed during class must be completed during help class only. Advisement or study halls are not safe times to perform lab work. It also is not fair to students who need extra help with the course material. Please be aware that help class is part of the scheduled school day, and transportation home is provided. Therefore, after school obligations are NOT valid reasons for missing a necessary help class. Lab reports that are not on time are penalized 10% per day, up to five days. After the fifth day, the grade is automatically 0, but the report must still be completed satisfactorily in order to take the final. All labs must be completed within the quarter they are assigned in order to get credit toward the Regents requirement. You must make sure lab reports are kept up to date! If all labs are completed you will achieve your 1200 minutes.

If a student is absent the day of a lab, that lab work must be made up within 10 days of the original procedure. It is the responsibility of the student to schedule a make-up time after school with the teacher.
