The Girls Modified Softball team lost it's season opener 10-3 against West Seneca East. Kimberly Kashino pitched the first five innings, striking out 3 batters and only walking two. Tallie Paepke pitched to the last seven batters, striking out one. June Longbine went 1 for 3, with 2 RBI's. A strong defensive game was played by the Eagles. The girls play tomorrow, April 5, 2007, against Hamburg at 4:30. Come out and support your Lady Eagles!

The Girls Varsity Track team won their scrimmage against Lackawanna yesterday 115 to 27.  Allison Klopp was a triple winner taking the high jump, triple jump and 400 meter dash. Mikelle Cala was also a triple winner taking the discus, 1500 meter and the 300 meter.  The Lady Eagles also had a double winner with Ashley Gadomski taking honors in the 100 and 400 hurdles.  The squad won two of the three relays to start thier season at 2 and 0.  They will host rival West Seneca East on April 17th at 4:30.


Boys Varsity Track beat Lackawanna yesterday 101 to 37. Here are some highlights:
Jake Thompson and Fred Garassi took first and second in both long and triple jumps.
Alex Abramo and Nathan Cox took first and third for discuss and shot put.
Johnny Kuewicz, Steve Paternostro, Brian Timm and Jake Wiley took first in the 4x40,
Aaron Weaver took second in the high jump clearing 5'8 feet.


Playing with wooden bats, the Varsity baseball team dropped a heartbreaking 9-8 game in 8 innings to Pine Valley. The Eagles led 8-5 with two outs in the seventh, and 8-7 with two outs in the eighth before the Panthers recieved clutch hits. Only four Eagles had hits as Jason Radwan (triple), Bill Peterson (double), Kyle Leach and Kevin Morley each had two hits each. Mike Sullivan pitched well in middle relief. It was the first game of the Tim Serecu Memorial Tournament, the squad plays next Tuesday and Wednesday in Tournament play.

Girls' Basketball Honors Announced PDF Print E-mail

The SUN asked area high school basketball coaches to nominate a players that they felt had an exceptional year in basketball. The SUN then reviewed the nominations and made the final determination as to first and second team recognition.

Emily Ludwig, a sophmore , was chosen to the First Team All -Stars for her great scoring contribution during the 2006-2007 basketball season. Emily was voted Most Valuable Player of her team this year.  Emily avereaged 13 points per game and 12 rebounds. The athletic department looks to her as a strong team player for the next two years. 
 
Kelsey McKeown was chose to the 2nd Team All Star Team from the Sun.  Kelsey was voted Most Improved Player for the 2006 - 2007 season.  She had a game winning shot against West Seneca East with 6 seconds left in the game to give the Varsity Team their first win of the season.  She will be looked to score from the outside next year and also bring senior leadership to the team.
 
Marissa Graci was also nominated to the Hamburg Sun.  Marissa was voted senior captain of the 2006 - 2007 season.  Marissa was asked to move from a forward position to a guard position this year and took on the challenge full board.  Marissa's enthusiasm, aggressiveness, and all out hustle is not something that coaches can teach their athletes and is something that will be hard to replace in the upcoming season.

On Monday, April 2nd, the Girls' Varsity Lacrosse team earned their second win of the season defeating West Seneca East 7-6.  It was a very close game from beginning to end.  Lindsay John was fanstasic in net making 20 saves.  She prevented many seemingly unstoppable shots from going into the net.  The attack worked tirelessly.  Cat McCulle scored 3 goals, Shelby Will had 2, Lauren Scanlan and Stephanie Urgo each had 1.  Assists were recorded by Lauren Scanlan, Stacey Urgo, Shelby Will and Miranda Schultz.  Tough defense was played by Katie Bacho, Jill Pelechaty, Whitney Brooks, Shaela Mohawk and Sarah Celia.  The girls play their next game on Wednesday, April 4th at Sweet Home.  Their next home game will be following the break on Monday, April 16th at 4:30 at J.T. Waugh against Grand Island.  Come cheer the Eagles on to victory!


The Girls' JV Lacrosse team could not get ahead of West Seneca East to pull out a win. The team fought hard but only scored three goals to West Seneca's five. Scorer's for Lake Shore where Kalie Weinheimer, Linsey Heferle and Sosha Garlow. JV will be at home on April 4th against Sweet Home.

The Varsity Baseball team outhit thier opponents, but dropped a 7-4 decision to defending State Finalist Williamsville South 7-4. Eagle hurlers allowed only three hits but walked nine Billies and threw three wild pitches. Down 7-1, the Eagles battled back,  getting base runners in every inning. Joe Inglut was 3-3, with a pair of doubles, scoring two runs.
Sophomore Nick Ellington was 2-3 with two doubles and two rbi's. Jason Radwan and Kirby
Driscoll had a pair of hits also. Josh Senior tossed three perfect innings in relief. The squad plays today in the Pine Valley Wooden Bat Tournament.

The JV Baseball team lost to Williamsville South 23-6. The team will be working hard to pull out a win against Gowanda on Thursday , April 5th. Come out and support the team!

Varsity Softball had a devastating loss to Iroquois yesterday. With several of the varsity starters unable to play, Lake Shore was unable to get a single run. The team played hard but Iroquois was able to out hit them giving them 11 runs by the end of the game. The Lady Eagles will be working hard to prepare for their game on Wednesday April 4th against West Seneca East. Come cheer them on!

The JV Softball ball team traveled to Iroquois yesterday and lost its first game of the season 9 - 8 in the bottom of the 9th inning.  A triple from 8th grade catcher Ashleigh Mancini tied the game 7 - 7 in the top of the 7th inning.  The girls never gave up even after being down 5 - 0 after the first inning.  The Lady Eagles next game is Wednesday, April 4th at 5:00 at Lake Shore High School.

The Varsity baseball team dropped their opening game of the 2007 season 6-2 at Fredonia.
Lack of clutch hitting led to the Lake Shore loss as they struck out seven times with runners in scoring position. Jason Radwan went 3-4 with a triple,  a pair of doubles and a RBI with a run scored. Kirby Driscoll was 2-4 with a double and a run scored. Billy Peterson had a RBI and a base hit. Mike Sullivan and Aaron Crusan also had Eagle hits.
The team hopes to  open the league season with a win on Monday April 2, 2007 against Williamsville South. Come out and cheer on the Eagles!!!!
