Chinese Educators Study In Lake Shore |

Ms. Li, Assistant Principal, & Ms. Huang, Kindergarten Teacher, both from
Nanning, China, spent two weeks immersed with students and teachers at
Highland Elementary School, Hoag Pre-School, and LS Middle, May 4-15,
2009. As evident in the movie highlights, a true learning and cultural experience was had by all!

Mr. Jeffrey Rabey, Superintendent, and Mrs. Dawn Mirand, Principal will travel through China Friday, April 10 through Friday, April 17. Thanks to our friends at the Apple Company, a website has been set up to document this educational partnership - http://xserve.littlesrest.org/groups/lakeshorecs/blog/
The purpose of the exciting venture is to continue to develop and enhance the partnership and relationship established between the Lake Shore Central School District and the School Afilliated With Jilin University. Understanding the differences and similarities in our cultures and educational systems will certainly benefit Lake Shore in preparing our students to compete in the global society.

Highland Elementary School Fourth Grade Teacher, Mrs. Kimberly Chiappone has been selected by the National Council of Teachers in Mathematics (NCTM) and the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) to attend the 2009 Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy at the Liberty Science Center. Kimberly Chiappone will join 200 third-through fifth-grade teachers from across the nation in Jersey City on July 19 for a one week-intensive, all-expense paid professional development opportunity.
