The Boys' Modified Lacrosse team evened their record to 1 and 1
with a hard fought 8 to 6 victory over visiting Iroquois. The team was
led by strong Goalie play from Alex Govenettio and Mark Kennedy and
strong play in the field from Ryan Rodriguez and Damien Stevens. Rory
Jimerson and Edmund Williams combined for 5 goals for the Eagles. The
next home game is Wednesday at 5 o'clock versus the Tigers of Amherst.
The Boy's Varsity Baseball team defeated Hamburg
yesterday 7-6, it was the first time in four years the team had
defeated the Bulldogs. Josh Senior tossed 6 1/3 innings of solid relief
to notch the win. Senior struck out 8 in his longest outing of the
season, he's 2-0 this season. The Eagles fell behind 3-0 in the first
but tied it 3-3 on a Bill Peterson hit. The Eagles took a 6-3 lead in
the second on hits by Mike Sullivan, a two run double by Kurby Driscoll
and hits by Peterson, and Kyle Leach. The Bulldogs scored single runs
in the third, fourth, and sixth innings. In the bottom of the sixth
Driscoll reached on an error and scored on a Peterson sacrifice fly to
give Lake Shore the lead for good. The Eagles are 2-1 in ECIC Division
II play, 3-3 overall.
Boys JV Baseball tied 1-1 with Hamburg on Monday.
On Monday, April 23rd the JV Softball Team traveled to
Hamburg. The Lady Eagles had a slow start at the plate and
struggled to get on base. Hamburg took the lead in the 4th inning
to go up 3 - 0 and then 5 - 0 in the 5th. The Lady Eagles could
not string together hits to score and left runners on base in the 3rd
and 4th innings. In the top of the 6th Kaileigh Hubbard walked
and Myriah Rammacher, who was 2 for 3, hit a single to give the Eagles
a spark. Dakota Balone then walked to load the bases. Paige
Tilert and Samantha Rosario Ritts both hit singles to score Hubbard and
Balone. The Lady Eagles went into the top of the 7th with the
score being 5 - 2. Unfortunately due to rain, the game was called
and the Eagles lost 5 - 2 giving them an overall record of 9 - 2.
Their next home game is Tuesday, April 24th at 5:00 against West Seneca
East. Come support the team!
On Saturday and Sunday the Varsity Softball team participated in
the Immaculata tournament. The girls won 3 games and lost one in extra
innings. Carla Trinca-Conley pitched well earning a victory over
St. Mary' of Lancaster and shared pitching duties with Kelsey Anthon in
wins over Springville and Cheektowaga.
On Saturday the Eagles defeated Springville 19-1. The offense
finally broke open getting 18 hits, while the defense played solid
allowing just 1 run on 2 hits. Later in the day, the Eagles lost
a heartbreaker 5-4 in 9 innings. After a seventh inning rally to
tie the game at 2, the Eagles scored twice in the tie breaker, but
could not hold the lead and eventually lost in the ninth inning.
On Sunday the Eagles pulled out wins in two close games Defeating St. Mary's of Lancaster 5-3 and
Cheektowaga 5-4. Katherine Caboot had a great day at the plate going 5 for 7 with 2 doubles and
4 RBI's. Recent call-up Paige Anderson continued to swing the bat well going 4 for 6 in Sunday's games.

The JV Softball Team participated in the Immaculata Tournament
over the weekend. The Lady Eagles faced Mount Mercy. Mount
Mercy scored two in the first inning, but the Lady Eagles had a strong
3rd inning with hits from Jillian Reitz and Asheigh Mancini to put the
Eagles up 3 - 2. The Eagles then came back in the 4th inning with
singles from Rebecca Balone and Kaileigh Hubbard. Sara Rieman was
the winning pitcher. She recorded 11 strikeouts. The final
score was Lake Shore 7 Mount Mercy 4.
In the second round the Lady Eagles faced Cheektowaga . Kalie
Michalski had 3 RBI's and Paige Anderson was 2 for 3 with 2
RBI's. STrong defensive play held Cheektowaga to no runs.
THe final score was Lake Shore 10 Cheektowaga 0. Sara Rieman and
Niki Kreuzer combined for 10 strikouts.
In the third round of play Lake Shore took a 9 - 0 lead in the second
inning against Mt. St. Mary's. Paige Anderson was 2 for 3 with a
triple that scored 3 runs for the Eagles. Paige Tilert was 2 for
3 with 2 RBI's as well. The Eagles had another strong game
defensively and beat Mt. St. Mary's 10 - 0.
The Eagles came in first in their bracket and advanced to the semi
finals against Ripley. Sara Rieman pitched 3 perfect innings, and
Niki Kreuzer pitched 2 allowing only 2 hits. The Lady Eagles had
a strong first inning scoring 8 runs. THe final score was Lake
Shore 14 Ripley 0 and advanced to the championship game, date
TBA.
Hustle, communication, and focus from every player were the combining
factors that put this young JV Softball Team into the championship
game. Good job ladies!
On Saturday, the Girls Modified Lacrosse team played a tough
game against West Seneca East. They lost with a score of
9-4. Goals were scored by Laura Atkinson with two, and Angela
Tunis and Ashley Cornyea with one each. The whole team is working
hard and showing great improvement.
The Girls' JV Lacrosse team lost a well fought game to Hamburg
Friday, 4-9. The game was back and forth until the last 15
minutes, when Hamburg finally pulled away. Lakeshore goals were
scored by Jessica Tunis (3) and Sasha Garlow (1). Sarah Voelker
recorded an assist. The team travels to Niagara Wheatfield on
Wednesday, and then play at home on Friday against West Seneca
East.
The JV Baseball team won their 2nd game of the season by
defeating Wills. East 13-6 on Fri. 4/20. The Eagles were led by
the following players:
* Mike Renn, Josh Gotsch, and Cameron Clark with 2 hits:
* Josh Gotsch with 3 rbi;
* R.C. Hubbard and Cameron Clark with 2rbi;
* Tom Fritz with 3 runs scored who also earned the win on the hill by sriking out 6 in 5 2/3 innings pitched.
The Varsity Baseball Team evened their league
record at 1-1 with a come from behind 13-12 win over previously
undefeated Williamsville East. Mike Sullivan scored the winning run
when Bill Peterson was hit by a pitch with bases loaded and two outs.
Peterson and Jason Radwan each had three hits, Peterson had a double
and a triple with 3 rbi's, while Radwan had a pair of doubles and 6
rbi's. Sullivan and Aaron Crusan each had a pair of hits, while Joe
Inglut had a triple. Josh Senior reached base 4 times and scored 3
runs. On defense Nick Ellington had a game saving sensational catch in
center in the 7th inning, while Radwan picked up the win.
On Saturday Josh Senior, Jim Evancho, Aaron Crusan and Bill
Peterson combined on a three-hitter as Lake Shore pounded North
Collins 16-3. Once again Peterson and Radwan led the offense with 3
hits and 2 rbi's each. Kyle Leach crushed a three-run homerun, Crusan
had a pair of hits, while Dan Norwood, Drew Watkins, and Jim Evancho
had their first hits of the season.
The Varsity plays today at home at 4:30 vs rival Hamburg, Support Eagle athletics.
The Boys Track team took third overall at the Jamestown
meet out of 14 teams, the team scored points in 15 different events
bringing home over 15 medals for the athletes.
Modified Baseball won 4-2 against Springville on Saturday, April 21.
Brian Barry pitched 7 innings with 1 hit and 10 strikeouts. Joe Pinter
and Bill Hastie had hits for the team. The team hopes to add to their
wins on Tuesday when they play at Hamburg.

Tough Day for Lake Shore Athletes |

Thursday, April 19th proved to be a tough day for Lake Shore with only the track team having success.
The Girls Varsity Track and Field Team defeated Dunkirk last
night 127 to 15. Double winners included: Mikelle Cala in the
discus and 3,000 meter run, Ally Klopp in the pole vault and 400 meter
hurdles, and Sarah Veith in the 800 and 1500 meter runs. Eighth
graders Melissa Thompson and Marguerite O'Connor scored very high in
thier respective events and earned valuable points in the overall team
victory. The team remains undefeated at 3 and 0 and will travel
to West Seneca West on 4/24/07.
The Girls Modified Lacrosse team played a tough game against
Orchard Park yesterday. They lost with a score of 4-12. Goals
were scored by Ashley Cornyea with two, Laura Atkinson and Jennifer
Chaplin with one each. The goalie, Shannon Danzi made 13 saves
for the Eagles.
Lady Eagles Varsity Softball team lost yesterday to Amherst 10-6.
Down 10-1 we scored 5 runs in the seventh to make it close.
Katherine Caboot went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI's.
Carla Trinca-Conley, Marissa Graci, Patsy Conrad and Andrea Reitz each
had 2 hits.
Boys Varsity Lacrosse lost a tough game to Williamsville South,
yesterday, 10-8. While Lake Shore led in the second and third quarter,
the fourth quarter was a different story. Many penalties, which had
Lake Shore down by three players at one point, allowed Williamsville
South to gain momentum.
Coach Migliaccio felt that overall the team played very well for the
first game of the season. Special teams won many of their face-offs and
man up scored on 50% of their ties. The team is looking to win their
meeting with St. Joe's on Saturday, April 21. here at home.
Boys JV Lacrosse also lost against Willimsville South with a
score of 5-2. The two goals came from Hinterberger and Abrams. The team
will be trying to get the bugs out for their next game against
Williamsville East on Monday, April 23rd.
