Lake Shore School Counseling Department wins New York State Award PDF Print E-mail

The Lake Shore K-12 School Counseling Department was awarded the New York State Outstanding School Counseling Program by the New York State School Counselors Assocation (NYSSCA) at the state convention on Friday, October 23rd in Syracuse, New York.

School Counseling Department Chairperson, Steve Brown, High School Interim Principal, Chris Walsh, High School Counselor, Heather Boncore and Elementary School Counselors, Beth McCuen, Michelle Myles and Leslie Grimaldi attended the awards ceremony. In recieving this award the Lake Shore School Counseling Department competed against schools across New York State. Lake Shore Central School District is the first district in Western New York to be bestowed this honor.

Robert Rotunda, NYSSCA President announced that the Lake Shore Central School District's Comprehensive School Counseling Program is the state model for districts across New York State to follow. This claim is truly a reflection of the excellence of this district in serving the needs of the whole school community .

Univera's FUN 2B FIT at Highland PDF Print E-mail

     On Wednesday October 28th Univera Healthcare's FUN 2B FIT Program energized the third grade students and teachers at Highland Elementary School.  The students participated in a lively 45 minute workout ,led by a fitness instructor, developed especially for kids that incorporated easy, fun dance moves and stretches.

     Oh what a busy, wonderful learning week we had. Highland Elementary joined in the nationwide celebration of RED RIBBON WEEK to show our commitment to living drugfree and healthy lives. Faculty and students displayed their promise with daily themes and activities.  The classroom counseling programs in Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd and fifth continued.

Red Ribbon Week is observed in schools and communities nationwide from October 23rd to October 31st as a reminder of the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices year round that include staying alcohol, drug and tobacco free!!!
