Hello! My name is Leslie Grimaldi and I am the School Counselor here at W.T. Hoag Elementary School. The Counseling Program is designed to serve students, parents, and staff alike. The school counselor attends to the emotional, social, developmental, and educational needs of all students. Services include individual and group counseling, classroom programs, crisis counseling, and parent support. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at 926-2381.
News from the Counselor...
Kindergarten has completed the "Ready to Learn" Program. Through short stories and classroom activities, the program focuses helps students develop 4 Key learning skills:
1. Paying Attention
2. Listening and Understanding
3. Asking Effective Questions
4. Encouragement
First Graders in Mrs. Hausrath's and Miss Grabowski's classes are learning about feelings and empathy through the "Second Step" program classroom lessons.
Fifth Graders in Mr. Hornberger's and Mrs. Hackbarth's classes are getting weekly study skills lessons. Some topics include:
- Staying Organized
- Keeping Track of Assignments
- Time Management
- Keeping a productive work environment
