The Brant Elementary Science Fair will have many fun science activities of interest to the whole family.  In addition to the student displays being judged in the science fair, we will also have activities for students to see and participate in.  Some of the activities are:
  • Rocket Lift Off - with Mr Ruffino demonstrating
  • Jet propulsion races - hands-on activity for students
  • The Mentos activity - advanced signup required
  • Silly Putty demonstration
  • Remote Control Helicopter "rides" - hands-on activity for students
And many more!!!

Thanks to our Senior High school students from the AP Science classes with Mrs. Wolfrum, Mr. Salerno and Mr. Duma, for being our judges and volunteering to perform the science demonstrations and activities.  We anticipate this will be a fun-filled time with lots to see and do.  Bring the whole family for science indoors and out!

For students and their parents - here are the recommended websites with science fair projects that you can easily replicate.  The FINAL deadline to turn in a science fair application is Friday June 5th.

Hands-On Science

This site has age appropriate experiments and science activities.  Non-commercial site, part of a mentoring website for education in Michigan.

Scotch Science Fair Central

A great place for students & parents to find ideas and how-to's for a great science fair project.

Science Fair Sanity - Project ideas

Excellent examples and resources, some free materials.  I liked this site much more than the Science Buddies website.  More K-5 oriented.

Love anything related to the brain.  Some brain related experiments on this site.

Science Fair Tips for Parents

This site contains the video links I shared at the Parent meeting!!!

Steve Spangler, in connection with TV Channel 9 in Colorado, has a science website with a page full of good advice for parents on helping your child select a good project for a science fair.  He also explains the difference between a science experiment and a science demonstration.  (One way to think of the difference is an experiment is about discovering results, a demonstration is an explanation of a scientific concept.)
