On Monday, the Girls' Varsity Soccer Team dropped a league game to Williamsville East. The Flames scored a fast goal in the second minute of the game. For the next seventeen minutes, the lady eagles were playing their game and keeping up with the number one team in WNY. With the strong defense of Jackie Fricano, and Miranda Schultz, the eagles were able to string together a couple passes with mid-fielders, Nicole Latimore and Erin Parker. During the 19th minute, the Flames scored their second goal of the game. After that, the eagles were struggling for the rest of the first half and allowed Williamsville to score 5 more goals. After half time, the eagles came out ready to fight. For the second half, Lake Shore played well with the help of Jessica Tunis and Alex Braeuner. Sarah DeBerardinis played goal for the first half, making five saves and Brittany Mazzu made two saves the second half. The lady eagles continue league play on Wednesday, traveling to Sweet Home.
On Monday, September 14th, the Girls J.V. Soccer team traveled to Williamsville East to face the Flames, an extremely challenging opponent. The girls battled hard defensively from beginning to end, but in the end were defeated 0-4. The girls were complimented on their hard work and hustle as they fought to keep the Flames away from goalkeeper, Frankie Harris. Frankie made many great saves to keep the girls in the game. The defensive group exhausted themselves working to get the ball up the field. They included Kelsey Mawk, Megan Linsmair, Kristin Bates, Liz Pickard, Alexis Cvetanovich, Angela Tunis and Alexis Williams. The midfielders focused on playing defensively for most of the game trying to steal the ball from the skillful opposing players. They were Hayley Hammer, Danielle Kabel, Summer Weinheimer, Carly Gottorff, Cassie Kij and Taylor Bates. The forwards played at midfield hoping for a long ball to be played into Williamsville East's end that they could make a run on to go to goal. They had a few opportunities but were unable to put the ball in the net. Forwards were Erin Vogl, Taylor Fricano, Josilyn Benton, Diana Wylie, and Victoria Johnson. The girls will continue their hard work and hustle as they travel to Sweet Home on Wednesday, September 16th. Go Lady Eagles!!!
The Lake Shore Golf team lost a close match to Springville yesterday. Medalist for the team was freshman Matt Kardach.
