On Wednesday, September 16th, the Girls' Varsity Soccer team played an amazing game in Sweet Home, but were not able to pull off a win. In the end, the eagles lost 2-0. Every member of the team contributed to this game. The girls worked as a team and their hard work was recognized by many. Sarah DeBerardinis, again, played a great game in goal, making 8 saves. The defenders prevented many shots from being taken, but Sarah came through for the team when she was needed. The defenders, who were able to stop Sweet Home from taking many shots were, Nicole Ring, Jackie Fricano, Erin Parker, Jessica Tunis, and Miranda Schultz. The midfielders made great runs down the field continually feeding the forwards with passes and giving them the opportunity to shoot. The midfielders were, Halie Jost, Parker, Tunis, Nicole Latimore, Carolynn Grennel, and Chantelle Mikolajczak. The forwards had more opportunities to score against Sweet Home then they have had in their previous three games. Unfortunately, the lady eagles were not able to capitalize on any shots, but the forwards continue shooting. The forwards were, Alex Braeuner, Laura Atkinson, Brittany Mazzu, Sarah Giglio, and Sarah Smith. The eagles travel to Eden on Monday for their next game. Go Lady Eagles!!
On Wednesday, September 16th, the Girls J.V. Soccer Team traveled to Sweet Home ready to face the Panthers. The Lady Eagles came on strong from the start and never let down defeating the Panthers 7-0. The girls played especially strong first and fourth quarters scoring 3 goals in each. Frankie Harris recorded the shut out in net only facing two shots on net. The defense stopped many of Sweet Homes runs to the goal before a shot could be taken. The defenders included Kelsey Mawk, Megan Linsmair, Kristin Bates, Liz Pickard, Alexis Cvetanovich, Angela Tunis and Alexis Williams. The midfielders were as active with goal scoring as the forwards were. They had the opportunity to play a lot of offense because of the hard work of the defensive players. The hard-working midfielders were Hayley Hammer, Summer Weinheimer, Danielle Kabel, Taylor Bates, Cassie Kij and Carly Gottorff. The forwards were constantly challenging Sweet Home's goalie and defenders with their attacking and shooting. The forwards were Erin Vogl, Taylor Fricano, Josilyn Benton, Victoria Johnson and Diana Wylie. Goals were scored by Megan Linsmair, Summer Weinheimer, Hayley Hammer, Josilyn Benton, Erin Vogl, Taylor Fricano and Carly Gottorff. Goals were scored by Sam Eggleston and Wade Bergum, who both had phenomenal games.
