The Boys Modified Soccer team lost a heart breaker yesterday, losing 1-0 to Williamsville South. They boys played an inspired second half creating many chances to score, but were unable to capitalize on any of their opportunities. Kenny Pierce played a superb game defensively keeping South out of the Eagles half of the field for much of the game. TJ Hornberger controlled the offensive side, consistently outrunning the Williamsville defenders. Nick Lewis and Adam Pisarski also had great games for the Eagles. Come and support the boys when they take on Williamsville East on Saturday Morning at 10:00am.
The Girls' Tennis team traveled to Sweet Home on Wednesday 9/30. The match had to be called half way through due to rain. A date has been made for a double header at Lake Shore on Tuesday, October 13th. Come out and support your tennis team this Friday, as they take on Will. East at 4:30.
The Lake Shore Golf team lost to a strong Eden team Wednesday at Gowanda. Medalist for Lake Shore was Senior Mike Abrams.
On Wednesday, September 30th, the Girls' Varsity Soccer team traveled to Iroquois. The eagles found themselves down 3-0 within the first 15 minutes of the game. By half-time, the lady eagles were down by 5. Once again, the eagles fought through and were able to control most of the second half. 15 minutes into the half, Laura Atkinson was able to score on a pass that came across the middle of the field from Nicole Latimore. Sarah DeBerardinis played goal for the first half, making 8 saves. Playing goal the second half, for the first time in her life, was Jessica Tunis, who also made 8 saves. The lady eagles travel to West Seneca East on Friday, where they will be playing their last away game of the season, and starting the second half of their season as well. Go Eagles!!
On Wednesday, September 30th, the Girls J.V. Soccer Team traveled to Iroquois to face a very difficult opponent. For the majority of the game, the Lady Eagles were able to match the play of the Lady Chiefs. A team defensive let down in the second quarter led the Lady Eagles to be defeated by the Lady Chiefs. The Lady Eagles finished the game strong but were unable to slow the momentum of Iroquois. Frankie Harris was forced to make many saves in the game and played fearlessly. The defensive group pulled themselves together in the second half of play to hold Iroquois to only 1 goal. This group consisted of Kelsey Mawk, Megan Linsmair, Kristin Bates, Liz Pickard, Angela Tunis and Alexis Cvetanovich. The midfield tried to make passes through Iroquois's strong defense to reach the forwards. Midfielders were Hayley Hammer, Summer Weinheimer, Kayla Widmer, Taylor Bates and Danielle Kabel.The forwards made some strong attempts of the goalie of Iroquois but were only able to put one in the net. The forwards were Erin Vogl, Taylor Fricano, Josilyn Benton, Diana Wylie, Victoria Johnson, Alexis Williams and Carly Gottorff. The Lady Eagles face West Seneca East on Friday in their final away game of the season. They return home next week Thursday and look to find more success in the second round of play for the season. Come out and cheer the girls on to victory!
The Boys Modified Volleyball Team Defeated Hamburg last night 20-12, 15-20, 20-18, 7-20 and 20-16. Travis Wright, Christian Gravius and Alec Lezama served well for the Eagles throughout the five game match. Jon "Superman" Flores lifted the roof with his outstanding play on offense and defense. The squad will travel to Clarence on October 6th.
The Lady Eagle Volleyball team defeated the Flames from Williamsville 25-11, 25-20 and 25-21. Senior setter, Tara Barone had 30 assists while Lindsey Richardson and Paige Tilert each led the team with 10 kills. Mollie McGough played outstanding defense. Jillian Reitz had 6 kills and played great defense. The Lady Eagles are currently ranked 7th in the WNY Coaches poll. This Friday (October 2nd) the Lady Eagles take on division rival, Sweet Home.
