The Boys Modified Soccer Team put up a fight for four quarters on Saturday morning, but were unable to pull out the win in the end, finishing in a 0-0 tie with Williamsville East. The boys trudged through the muddy conditions to keep the pressure on Williamsville, but were unable to find the net with the attempts that they had. Bryce Parker-Norton again held East scoreless, making some miraculous saves at the end of the game. Adam Pisarski, Kenny Pierce, Matt Szczepaniak , Thomas McTernan, and Shawn Duffey played a superb game defensively. Wade Bergum, Nick Lewis, Jake Cozzo, Gabe Carruth, Max Matthews, Adam Campagnolo, Weston Ihrke, and Calvin Butlak played well in the midfield, controlling play both offensively and defensively. Sam Eggleston, Kyle Abrahamson, and TJ Hornberger had great games on offense consistently keeping pressure on the East defenders. The boys will take on Sweet Home and Starpoint this week hoping to get back to their winning ways.
Friday, October 2nd vs. Sweet Home
On Friday, October 2nd the Girls JV Volleyball team defeated Sweet Home for the second time this season. It was a much closer match than the first time around, but the ladies held their own and came out on top. Excellent serving from Claudia Koenig and Jolee Johnson proved to be critical as the Panthers had a tough time returning the ball. Chelsea Hofner, Lauren Gotsch, and Tess Baker were tough at the net as each had some pretty impressive kills. Overall the whole team played good defense and worked well together on the court. Their record is now 5-3.
Saturday October 3rd: North Tonawanda Tournament
The Girls JV Volleyball team made it to the semi finals of the Silver Bracket on Saturday. During the first match against Clarence, the girls came out strong and won the first game 28-26. There was tough serving and some scrappy defense from the Lady Eagles. The girls lost the second and third games both 17-25. The second match was against host team North Tonawanada. The first game was a close match with tough serving from everyone and great setting from Claudia Koenig, Hannah McNamara and Mackenzie Ciciera. However a few critical errors resulted in a loss 23-25.
After pool play was over, the Eagles faced a one game playoff with Grand Island to advance to the finals. The girls had a tough time getting started and too many unforced errors cut the tournament short. Although the scoreboard didn't show positive results for the Lake Shore JV Volleyball team on the court, the experience of playing tough teams and the tournament atmosphere will certainly prove valuable for each girl as they progress further into their volleyball careers.

In one week, the players received donations from friends, families, and teachers. It was with great pride that we presented a check totaling $200 to North Tonawanda for the Breast Cancer Society. Congratulations to each member of the team for their donations and especially to Lauren Gotsch who raised $106 for this important cause. Great job ladies!
