Dear Parents/Guardian:
As you can see from the calendar on the reverse side of this letter, the month of May will be once again be quite a busy one for us. May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month.
Please note that our fourth grade students will be taking the New York State Science assessment during this month. Students in grades one and two will be taking the Terra Nova standardized tests. The final PTG Meeting of the year will take place on Wednesday, May 10th at 7:00 p.m.
Our Spring Concert which involves second and third grade students will take place on Wednesday, May 17th at 7:00 p.m. An assembly for our students will provide an opportunity for the rest of the student body to see the concert earlier in the day at 1:30 p.m.
First grade students will be taking a field trip to Kelkenberg Farms on May 26th , the Kindergarten classes will be visiting the Buffalo Zoo on May 26th as well and our Second grade students will be taking a field trip to Tifft Farms on May 30th.
School will NOT be in session on Monday, May 29th in observance of Memorial Day.
With the arrival of warmer weather, students should not wear flip-flops to school. Students often go outdoors for either a walk or on the school playground, and flip-flops are not appropriate footwear for school. Also shorts should be of a modest length, while midriff tops are not appropriate apparel. Thank you for your understanding concerning this matter.
Sincerely,
Mr. Robbin D. List, Principal
Highland Elementary School
