ANTHONY J. SCHMIDT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

NOVEMBER PARENT LETTER

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I want to begin by thanking all of you for your support with our fundraiser.  Your hard work and effort really paid off for our students.  With your help, our profit was nearly $7,000.  The funds raised will help to bring educational programming to AJ and to offset the costs of some of our building programs.  Thank you again for your support; it is truly appreciated!

The November calendar is printed on the reverse side, please post it prominently on your refrigerator.  Our first trimester ends on Tuesday, November 24th.  You will receive communication from your child’s classroom teacher regarding parent-teacher conferences.

You should have already received information regarding our Arts in Education program for students in grades 2, 3, 4 and 5.  It went home this week on a bright yellow, half-sheet of paper.  Students will be traveling to JT Waugh Elementary in the village to participate in their annual Arts in Education program on November 2nd (grades 4 and 5) and on November 16th (grades 2 and 3).

The New York State Elementary Social Studies Assessment for 5th grade students will be held on Monday and Tuesday, November 16th and 17th.  Students are expected to answer 35 multiple-choice questions and to complete short and constructed response questions and to write a document-based essay.  Our students have been preparing for this assessment that tests their elementary school knowledge of social studies during and after school.  Please be sure that they are particularly well rested.

Our students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade will be working hard in the month of November to prepare for our Holiday Concert.  This year’s program, “Twas the Night Before Christmas” will be performed on Wednesday, December 2nd at 2:00 and 7:00 pm in the gymnasium at AJ Schmidt.  Additional information will come home from Mrs. Martin.

If I don’t see you before, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  Enjoy your time with family and friends.  If you have any questions or are in need of additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I can be reached at 926-2351 or via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Sincerely,
