Have you ever thanked your heroes? Do your heroes even know how much you respect and admire them? Well, most true heroes are unsung and not shown the respect and honor they deserve. Last week, 26 Lake Shore seniors wrote and presented speeches honoring their heroes.
Over 70 students, parents and loved ones gathered in Mr. Connors' classroom to honor the many unsung heroes that have contributed these seniors' successful development. In addition to honoring their heroes, Mr. Connors' students presented Mr. and Mrs. William and Joan Houston with certificate of recognition for their “outstanding service” to the Lake Shore School District, the Town of Evans and the village of Angola. Mr. Houston, with the support of his loving wife Joan, served as the Lake Shore superintendent of schools from 1966 to 1996 where he helped lay the foundation of the great, if not the best, system we have today. It is thanks to Mrs. Houston that we have such detailed accounts and histories of the many events that have shaped the Town of Evans; her rigorous efforts over the years are much appreciated and utilized. A special thank you goes out to the Houstons and the many parents and loved ones who helped make our 2010 Heroes' Luncheon such a great success.
