6th Grade
Art is a 13-week course designed to build upon the knowledge and skills
acquired at the elementary level. Using a variety of materials, students will
apply
what they have learned about the Elements and Principles of Design,
about
light and shadow, about perspective, and about color theory as they
draw,
paint, make prints, collage, and sculptures.
Sixth
graders begin with a study of Art History from the beginning. As sixth graders, they
study
Art History from Cave Art to Medieval Art.
Sixth
graders
will also be doing a pottery project and a computer art project.
Students
are
encouraged to explore their individuality through their artwork while
meeting
the State Requirements. When students come in with a good attitude and
give their best effort, they will get good grades and artwork that they
can
be proud of!

7th Grade

Seventh
graders
also continue with their study of Art History. As sixth graders, they
studied
Art History from Cave Art to Medieval Art. Seventh graders study Art
History from Medieval Art to Modern Art with
an emphasis on Renaissance
Art, Expressionism
and Impressionism. As eighth graders, they will then study Modern Art from the
1900's to the present.
Seventh
graders
will also be doing a pottery project, a computer art project, and a
paper mache' group project.
Students
are
encouraged to explore their individuality through their artwork while
meeting
the State Requirements. When students come in with a good attitude and
give their best effort, they will get good grades and artwork that they
can
