Unity Voice Mail Instructions


Logging On by Phone:

  • From campus:
    Press the "Messages" button, then enter your password as prompted.
  • From a campus phone other than yours:
    Press the "Messages" button. When your call is answered, press *.  You will be prompted for your ID, which is the last four digits of your phone number. You will then be prompted for your password.
  • From off-campus:
    Dial 549-2300. When your call is answered, press *.  You will be prompted for your ID, which the last four digits of your phone number. You will then be prompted for your password.


Checking Messages by Phone

To Check a message

  • Step 1:  Log on to Unity Voice Mail
  • Step 2:  Press 1 to hear new messages
    or
    Press 3 to hear old messages. Then, press 1 to hear saved messages.
  • Step 3:  Use the following keys to select the type of message that you want to hear.

Deleting Messages by Phone

To delete a message from your phone

  • Step 1: Log on to Cisco Unity Voice Mail.
  • Step 2: Press 1 to hear new messages, or press 3 to review old messages.
  • Step 3: During or after message playback, press 3 to delete the message.

To delete messages in the Deleted Items folder
(only if subscribed to Unified Messaging)

  • Step 1: Log on to Cisco Unity Voice Mail.
  • Step 2: Press 3 to review old messages
  • Step 3: Press 2 to delete messages in the Deleted Items folder
  • Step 4: Press 1 to confirm that you want to delete messages
  • Step 5: When prompted, you can either:
    • Press 1 to delete only the voice messages in the Deleted Items folder.
    • Press 2 to delete all messages in the Deleted Items folder, including e-mail and voice messages.

Sending a Message by phone

Before you send a message, you can select from the following special delivery options:

Urgent

Mark a message urgent so that Cisco Unity sends it before regular messages.

Return Receipt

Request a return receipt so that Cisco Unity notifies you when the recipient opens the message.

Private

Mark a message private so that the recipient knows to treat it confidentially.

Future Delivery

Mark a message for future delivery so that Cisco Unity waits to send the message on the day and time that you specify.

Use the following procedure to send a voice message.

To send a voice message

  • Step 1: Log on to Cisco Unity Voice Mail.
  • Step 2: Press 2

  • Step 3: Follow the Cisco Unity conversation to address your message.
    To address the message to a private list, press ## to switch to number entry as necessary.
  • Step 4: Press 1 to add another name or list.
    or
    Press # to record the message, and use these keys as you record:

To reply to a message

To forward a message

  • Step 1: After listening to the message, press 5.
  • Step 2: Follow the Cisco Unity conversation to address the forwarded message. To address the message to a private list, press ## to switch to number entry as necessary.
  • Step 3: Do one of the following three options:
    • Press 2 to record an introduction, and use these keys as you record:

To change your phone password

  • Step 3: Enter a new password and press #. Enter digits 0 through 9.

  • Step 4: Enter the new password again to confirm it and press #.

Changing Playback Volume by Phone

To adjust playback volume

While listening to a message, you can toggle among these volume settings to adjust the volume of that message:

Press 5 once

Increases the volume.

Press 5 again

Decreases the volume.

Press 5 again

Returns the volume to normal.



Changing Playback Speed

To change playback speed

While listening to a message, you can toggle among these speed settings:

Press 4 once

Slow playback.

Press 4 again

Slower playback.

Press 6 once

Fast playback.

Press 6 again

Faster playback.



Changing Greeting Settings by Phone

You can record up to three personal greetings that callers hear when you are not available to take calls. Cisco Unity plays your greeting for the appropriate situation:

Alternate Greeting

This greeting plays to indicate special circumstances, such as when you are on vacation.

Closed Greeting

This greeting plays during your nonworking hours.

Standard greeting

This greeting generally plays during your work hours.

To change your greetings

  • Step 1: Log on to Cisco Unity Voice Mail.
  • Step 2: Press 4 > 1 > 1

  • Step 3: After Cisco Unity plays your current greeting, either:

    • Press 1 to rerecord it.
    • Press 2 to enable or disable your alternate greeting.
    • Press 3 to record a different greeting, choose the greeting, then rerecord it.
  • Step 4: Use these keys if you rerecord a greeting:

Changing the Name or Members of a Private List by Phone

To change the name of a private list

  • Step 1: Log on to Cisco Unity Voice Mail.
  • Step 2: Press 4 > 2 > 4 > 2

  • Step 3: Choose the private list whose name you want to change by pressing the number of the list.
  • Step 4: Press 4 to record the name.

To change members of a private list

  • Step 1: Log on to Cisco Unity Voice Mail.
  • Step 2: Press 4 > 2 > 4 > 2

  • Step 3: Choose the private list whose members you want to change by pressing the number of the list.
  • Step 4: After Cisco Unity plays the name of the list, use the following keys to change the members:
