Principal’s Message
“Continuity gives us roots, change gives us branches, letting us stretch and grow and reach new heights!”
A favorite quote from Pauline R. Kezer

Fall is such an exciting time, filled with many changes that a new season brings.  If we study nature closely, we can learn many things about adapting to change.  New routines have been established and the children and staff are settling in at Highland, making many meaningful connections.  It’s been a fine new beginning as the staff & I strive to provide a safe, nurturing and learning-filled environment for our kids.

I am so impressed by the talented parents we have at Highland!  The parent volunteers and participation in classrooms have proved to be an excellent learning partnership.  The students, teachers and I have enjoyed the presentations and demonstrations in individual classrooms that you are providing.  What a wonderful way to get involved and share at our school.  Kudos to our parent volunteers!

I appreciate the wonderful support and feedback about the arrival/dismissal procedures.  It is indeed providing a safe and efficient beginning and ending of each school day for kids.  If you need to assist your child in bringing items into the building, there are a number of options for you!  *You can drop the items off at the office to be delivered to the classroom, *you can make arrangements with the classroom teacher at least a day ahead of time for drop off at the classroom, *or there are many adult and student patrol helpers along the way to assist.  Your cooperation is so appreciated!

Remember having lunch is just one of many ways to become involved at Highland.

The “Volunteer Opportunities” chart on the last page of this newsletter describes those occasions!

Please see the lunch visitation details on the next page!
