The
Evans-Brant Central School District (Lake Shore) is located along the
southern shore of Lake Erie, approximately 21 miles south of the City
of Buffalo. The District is both suburban and rural in nature and
serves the Towns of Evans and Brant, The Villages of Angola and
Farnham, and the Hamlet of Derby. There are seven schools within the
District: A. J. Schmidt Elementary, Brant Elementary, Highland
Elementary, J. T. Waugh Elementary, W. T. Hoag Elementary, Lake Shore
Middle School, and the Lake Shore Senior High School.
Our District has a long
tradition of providing outstanding educational opportunities for our
children. We are committed to insuring that our students acquire the
skills and knowledge they will need to become self-directed, life long
learners.
At the elementary level
the District provides a Pre-K program as well as full day Kindergarten.
Each school provides a caring, child centered environment, which
fosters academic success. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking and
problem solving skills. Academic intervention programs in ELA and math
are offered as well as programs for special education and those in the
gifted and talented program.
The Lake Shore Middle
School (6-8) provides an ideal setting for delivering educational
services to this unique age group of learners. Emphasis is placed on
the development of the whole child, including academic as well as
personal/social growth. A major component of our Middle School is the
concept of "Team Teaching" in which each child is placed on academic
teams. Each of our teams work to develop greater responsibility and
independence as academic learners. Enrichment programs and remediation
programs are also available to assist our students in their academic
achievement.
Our Senior High School
offers a wide range of academic programs. Regents, Honors, and Advanced
Placement courses are offered, as well as extra curricular activities
and support programs allowing students to develop all facets of skills
and interests. Recently our High School completed a renovation project
providing additional classroom space, a new gym, library, track and
fitness center and the new addition of a BOCES vocational and
Technology Center. The location of the BOCES center on campus provides
greater flexibility and opportunities in course selection for all
students.
Lake Shore Central also
offers one of the most comprehensive technology systems in the state.
The District has over 2000 computers available for use with high
bandwidth Internet access. In addition, each classroom has access to
voice, video and data transmissions within the District infrastructure.
Other important aspects
of our District include a comprehensive interscholastic athletic
program, which serves all secondary students grades 6-12. Additionally,
the District boasts a strong music program in grades 5-12. Bands exist
at the Elementary, as well as the Middle and High School levels. The
Middle and High School also support orchestras, wind ensembles, jazz
bands and choral groups.
In an effort to provide
continuing education and life long learning, Lake Shore offers a
comprehensive community education program, providing over 300 programs
throughout the year.
