I am truly thankful to be a part of a learning community that is so committed to work together to do good things for kids. Garrison Keillor, an American writer and broadcaster, 1942, once stated, “Nothing you do for children is ever wasted. They seem not to notice us, hovering, averting our eyes, and they seldom offer thanks, but what we do for them is never wasted.” Have you noticed the festive fall display in the front hallway? Special thank you to Mrs. Armstrong and Mrs. Yarjeau for their creative decorating! Just wait to see what they have in store for the December holidays! On Thursday, December 7th and Friday, December 8th, students will be dismissed from school at 12:00 noon, so that teachers will have the opportunity to offer you a conference to discuss your child’s progress. The National Education Association reminds us to remember that all children learn in different ways. They have their own individual personalities, and their own listening and work habits. To help their students learn new knowledge and skills, teachers must know as much as they can about each child's likes and dislikes. No one knows more about these things than you, the parents, and no one has more influence over your children than you. That's why teachers need your help to do a first-class job. Working together, you and the teacher can help your child have a successful school year. At Highland, we welcome and encourage your partnership. If you did not schedule a conference at Open House in September, please contact your child’s teacher to do so. We look forward to meeting with you. Important Reminders*Absence Hotline - 24 hour call in to the Highland nurse, Mrs. Hegyi, 926-2465 - State clearly your child’s name, teacher, reason & length of the absence AND send in a note the next day!! *Visit us on the web at www.lakeshore.wnyric.org *November Lunches – Tuesday, November 7, 14, 21, & 28
