Dear Parents,

Great news!  Highland was recently recognized by The NYS Department of Education with a certificate that will be framed & displayed, identifying our school as a “High Performing/Gap Closing School”!!   In addition, Business First has identified Highland among the 40 BEST Elementary Schools in Western New York, and a “hidden treasure” among schools.
These honors are the result of collaborative efforts among staff, students and parents!  Testing results assist staff in evaluating best practices and identifying how  to further facilitate student achievement while assessing needs and strategizing ways to continually improve instruction.  Well-prepared, hard working students who put forth their best efforts are important to our school achievement.  The final piece contributing to Highland’s successes are the supportive parents.  I am extremely proud to be working within a community that truly puts the best interests of students first!
Abraham Lincoln once profoundly stated, “Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing.”  We certainly possess the determination to succeed at Highland!!

*NEW* - Your child’s class placement for next year along with a grade level supply list, will arrive in the mail by the first week in August!!

It’s hard to believe that the school year is coming to a close!  It has been a rewarding year indeed.  The PTG is an outstanding group, working hard for the good of our school community.  If you haven’t had a chance to become involved, please consider attending a meeting, chairing an event for next year, or volunteering to assist.
It is extremely gratifying to work with a most sincere group of students, caring parents and a dedicated staff. Please call if I can be of any assistance at any time in the education of your child.
I’ll miss seeing everyone over the summer.  Dr. William Carlos Williams, an American Poet, believed that “in summer, the song sings itself.”  Make your summer a great one!
