Our Character Education Theme for September is Citizenship
The weekly quotations are:
Week 1: We are here to help one another during our journey through life.
Week 2: A good citizen always attempts to help someone less fortunate then themselves.
Week 3: What can you do to make your school a better place?
Week 4: How have you been a good citizen this month?
Parents
Another new school year has arrived and exciting days lie ahead for our students. Returning students will be in new classrooms with new teachers and an opportunity for a new beginning. Our kindergarten students will soon adjust to the kindergarten classroom and all that this wonderful place has to offer them.
As your child begins another year I encourage all parents to stay involved in your child's education. Fostering and promoting a love for learning at home will benefit your child for a lifetime. Please remember to communicate with your child's teacher on a regular basis. Keeping an open line of communication benefits everyone, but most of all the student.
Here at J. T. Waugh you will find a dedicated staff committed to providing our students with an academically rich and challenging instructional program. Our outstanding Parent Teacher Group will hold the first of five meetings at 3:30 p.m. on September 17, 2008. This meeting will be held in the school library and all are welcome to attend. Please consider membership in this important organization that does so much to enhance the school experience for our children.
The J.T. Waugh Open House program will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2008beginning at 7:00 p.m. This evening provides parents with an excellent opportunity to meet our teachers and to learn more about the educational program offered at our school. Please make every effort to attend this event.
The student school day for the 2007-08 school year is from 8:35 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. on a daily basis. Parents transporting their children to school in the morning are to drop their children no earlier than 8:30 a.m. If you plan to transport your child home at the end of the day, you should send a note to school with your child indicating your desire to do so. Please remember to have proper identification with you at all times. Identification will be checked to protect your child. If transporting your child home, please plan on arriving no earlier than 3:00 p.m. These procedures are necessary for security and safety reasons. Thank you for understanding and cooperating with these procedures.
I want to emphasize the importance of building a strong positive relationship between the school and the home. Together, we can, and will provide the best opportunity for all of our children to experience success both in and out of school. Let us help one another as we continue "building our future one student at a time."
