Dear Parent/Guardian:
Welcome back! It is hard to believe that summer vacation is over and we are returning to school. Hopefully, you have been able to spend time with your family, read some good books, and enjoy the recreation activities available during the summer. I am very excited to begin the 2007-2008 school year with the students, faculty, staff, and parents at William T. Hoag.
Teachers have been busy preparing their rooms for your arrival as we are all looking forward to a great school year. Our school times for students are 8:35 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. For security reasons and the safety of all the students, no student should arrive at school prior to the starting time of 8:35 a.m. It is at this time that students riding buses, as well as those walking to school will be allowed to enter.
Visitors must report to the office, where you will be asked to sign a log sheet and be issued a visitor’s pass. These are necessary precautions that are in effect at each school.
The school district will not allow constant changes in the bus pick-ups and drop-offs. [We are unable to accept changes via phone permission.] ALL REQUESTS MUST BE IN WRITING. Parents who are picking up students at dismissal MUST report to the cafeteria, where they will sign their child out. These students will be called before general dismissal. Please remember not to park in the front circle at anytime, as it is a fire lane and interrupts district transportation vehicles.
The YMCA will again be offering before and after school services at W. T. Hoag. Arrangements and billing questions can be answered by calling 674-9622. The YMCA Pre-Kindergarten program will be housed in the primary wing. To reach the Pre-K rooms, parents must enter through the end doors where a monitor and buzzer system is installed. All others need to enter through the main doors.
The Tailored Academic Program will be housed in the Annex. Selected students from the Middle School and High School will participate in this program to achieve the ultimate goal of receiving a high school diploma. Services will not take place in the Hoag building.
Our food service provider is the Sodexho Corporation. Any questions concerning menus, prices, or service can be directed to the on-site manager at 926-2290.
We extend a warm welcome to our new staff members, Mrs. Maximciuc (Special Education), Mrs. Feldman (General Music), Mr. Sills (Fourth Grade), Miss Piazza (Instrumental- Band), Mr. Bender (Resource), Mrs. Kowal (PCA), and Ms. Richmond (PCA) at Hoag this year.
Reminder to parents of Second and Fourth Grade students- the District will schedule routine physicals during the year. If you do not want your child to participate, you need to contact the school nurse.
In an effort to encourage school attendance, classrooms achieving perfect attendance during each week will be recognized by a Golden Apple. The top two classrooms will be honored with a pizza party at the end of the year. Fostering exemplary attendance will increase learning as well as increase work ethic and commitment to responsibility. Skills that are necessary to be successful in the future.
Should you encounter any problems or have questions, please contact me at the Hoag School 926-2480. We are looking forward to having you as a part of our school family.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Paula J. Eastman
