Lake Shore District was asked to be a community partner with WebWiseKids as part of a study on helping parents with Internet safety education. Lake Shore will be seeking interested parents to participate in an evaluation of an online training program from WebWiseKids.org The software program entitled "WiredWithWisdom" will be provided free to participating parents.
Monique Nelson, Executive Vice President of WebWiseKids.org will be
visiting Lake Shore district on October 24th. In addition to the
planning meeting, Ms. Nelson will meet with the school counselors and
share some insight on cyberbullying, Internet safety and teens.
At 7 p.m. Ms. Nelson will do a presentation on these same topics to
parents, teachers, law enforcement, and youth leaders in the Lake Shore
Middle School. She will also unveil the new online training program
"WiredWithWisdom" and explain how interested parents can participate in
the study.
This presentation on Internet Safety is not only aligned with the goals
of the program - Rachel's Legacy, it is also timely. Currently there
is a bill before Congress to address children's Internet safety as a
result of the Department of Justice report entitled "Project Safe
Childhood".
For more information, visit www.webwisekids.org.
Additional questions on this program can be directed to Mrs. Ciminelli, District Technology Coordinator.
