R. Terrence Redman, Principal

WELCOME!

Whether you are beginning, or continuing at Lake Shore Senior High School, you need to make the Commitment to Excellence.

How good do you want to be? If your answer is, "good enough to get by," then a commitment to excellence is not necessary. But if your answer is, "the best," you must make a total commitment to excellence in all aspects of your high school life; academics, athletics, music and extra curricular activities.

You do not need to tell anyone about your commitment, because actions speak louder than words. People will see your commitment in the time you put into studying or practice, and in the method you use to do so.

Never be ashamed to admit that you want to be the best, and never feel you should have to explain why you want to be the best. Your answer should be, "Why not the best?" Don’t be satisfied until you get what you want.

In my many years of being a principal, I have seen a number of students make a sincere commitment to excellence. They had a burning desire to be not just good, but great. They wanted to learn. They worked harder than the other students did during the school year. They went out of their way to excel. Finally, they were very stubborn. They refused to settle for anything less than the best.

As a result, each was successful in reaching their goal of excellence. It was not luck or chance. They worked for it.

The information in this curriculum guide will provide you with valuable information concerning graduation requirements, diploma options and descriptions of the courses that you can take during your four years at Lake Shore Senior High School.

As your High School Principal, I challenge each of you to commit yourself to reaching excellence. If you refuse to settle for less than the best, you’ll probably become the best. Good Luck.
