PowerSchool Parent Access for Middle & High School Students PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 29 January 2008
The Lake Shore Central School District has successfully implemented an electronic student information system called PowerSchool.  This student data management system is used by the school district to administer a wide range of student information, including grades, attendance, course assignments, schedules, demographics, and student activity data.

As a result of this new system, a feature for parents with students in grades 6-12 will soon be available.  PowerSchool Parent Access will be available for all parents with students in grades 6-12 on Monday, February 11, 2008.  This access provides parents, guardians, students and teachers with another tool to communicate grades, attendance, assignments, teacher comments and school announcements on an ongoing basis via the Internet.

Since PowerSchool is web-based, it can be accessed from any computer that is connected to the Internet.  In order for parents to access this new feature, they must have the following computer/internet access:

High speed Internet access AND either system listed below:

Macintosh

- Safari 2.0.X

- Firefox 2.0.X

- Java 1.4.2 or Java 1.5 (Java 5)

Windows

- Internet Explorer 6.0

- Firefox 2.0.X

- Java 1.4.2 or Java 1.5 (Java 5)

- Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 for Windows

For best results use the latest versions of Firefox available at www.mozilla.com and Java available at www.java.com.

Parents can view their own child’s attendance and grade information by subject, through the use of the PowerSchool Parent Access application via the Internet.  Each user (parent/guardian) is issued a unique username and password that will allow access to only view their child’s information.  Parents/guardians who have more than one child in the district in grades 6-12 will receive separate passwords for each child.  Parents may provide their children with their username and password so they can view their attendance and grade information as well.

Instructions and password information will be sent via the mail to all parents/guardians in early February with their child’s school report card.  Once the access information has been provided, parents can log into the PowerSchool Parent Access application through the Lake Shore Central website at: http://www.lakeshore.wnyric.org.  Parents who need help with passwords or logging in should click on the Get Support link on the Power School Parent Access Web Page and fill out the support request form.

We look forward to a successful rollout of the PowerSchool Parent Access application in February.  Additional information will be sent home with all grade 6-12 student report cards in early February and will also be available through the District website under the title of PowerSchool Parent Access.
