Dear Parent/ Guardian:
Please review the following information:
1.The Wm. T. Hoag PTG has graciously sponsored a Winter Ecology Walk (Grades K-3) and Snowshoe Presentation (Grades 4 and 5).  Students MUST have proper outdoor gear to participate, including hat, gloves, snow-pants, and boots.  Students will be outside for a period of time and will not participate if any of these items are missing.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY  27  Ecology Walk Grades K-3 and Snow Shoeing Grade 4 and 5

2.  Who’s ready to go roller-skating? Our PTG has scheduled two skating parties for the month of February. Students in K-2 (ONLY) on February 7, while grades 3-5 (ONLY) will attend on February 28. There will be a $1.00 per person admission and NO fee for skate rental. Parents must remain at the Angola Roller-Cade for the entire time or children will not be allowed to participate – safety reasons. Please complete the attached sheet and return with admission payment only.

3. “CHILL OUT and READ” is the theme for our winter reading incentive program, which will run from February 11 to the 25.  Watch for more information and be ready to snuggle up with a good book.

4. Due to the continual increase of costs associated with energy consumption, the District has adopted an energy conservation plan.  During normal school hours, the thermostats in elementary buildings will be set at 70 degrees and 68 degrees at the middle and high school.  These settings will allow for a two-degree variation, either way, throughout the building.  Students are encouraged to dress for the weather and possibly pack an extra sweater or sweatshirt, if they tend to be chilled easily.  Lights will be turned off when rooms are not in use.  Finally, computers will be shutdown or put into a sleep mode at the end of the day.

5. Reminder that Lake Shore Central Schools will be closed the week of February 18th to the 22nd for a mid-winter recess, school resumes on Monday, February 25, 2008.

The Character Education theme for February is HONESTY.
 Sincerely,Mrs. Paula J. Eastman
