**Principal’s Message**
Dear Parents,
I attended a conference last week on School Safety and Security as our first priority is always keeping our students safe. As a community based school, it is important for Highland parents to feel welcomed but at the same time be respectful of the necessary security measures that are in place. While school is in session, it is extremely important for us to know what visitors are in the building at all times. I learned at this conference that our procedures are appropriate and in accordance to what other schools and districts have in place.
Your assistance in adhering to our procedures will assist us in our goal for safety. During school hours, please remember to sign in and out at the office and refrain from visiting classrooms unless prior arrangements have been made with teachers. Safety patrol students are available to assist our younger students to classrooms and encourage parents to drop students off at the door in the morning.…………………………………………………………………………………………………. Reading Night was a wonderful event for our students. Thank you to Mrs. Jakiel, Mrs. Porter, Mrs. Boglev, and the PTG for organizing and supporting this family event. It was great to see so many teachers, staff and parents attend as well. Thank you to everyone who attended!…………………………………………………………………………………………………. New this year, we will pilot a Spring Picture Day, which will take place on Monday, April 21st. All students will be photographed and receive a picture package a few weeks later. No prior ordering is necessary. Once the picture package is received, look it over carefully, if you like the pictures and wish to purchase them, simply send in the proper payment. If you are not interested in purchasing the pictures, just return them to school the next day. ………………………………………………………………………………………………….
“The best inheritance parents can give to their children is a few minutes of their time each day.” M. Grundler Consider taking a walk, reading a story, and/or talking about current events with your wonderful children each day! Hopefully the warmer weather will be upon us soon. Please call or stop by if I can be of any assistance with your child’s educational experience.
