Early defensive mistakes cost the Lady Varsity Eagles in their opening game loss to Pioneer 6-5.
After spotting Pioneer a 5-1 lead the Eagles made a comeback, but fell one run
short.  Carla Trinca-Conley pitched well striking out 6.  The offense came to life
in the sixth inning scoring 3 times.  With two outs in the seventh Liz Inglut double to left
and Freshman Kalie Michalski tripled to get the Eagles within one run, but the rally came up short with the tying run left on third base.
The Eagles begin their league contests on Monday at West Seneca East.

The JV softball team opened their season yesterday afternoon with a 9 - 7 win against Pioneer.  Freshman, Sara Rieman, pitched all seven innings for the Eagles.  She had a total of 13 strikeouts, 4 walks, and only allowed 3 hits.  Sophomore captains Jillina Reitz and Paige Tilert  both went  1 for 3 at the plate and were leaders on the defensive end.  Anna Giglio had her first at bat in the 5th inning and knocked in teammates Nikki Kreuzer, 2 for 4 with 1 RBI, and Samantha Dawley  1 for 3  with 1 RBI.  Rebecca Balone also went 1 for 3 at the plate with a double in dthe 4th inning.  The Eagles travel to North Collins on Thursday, April 3rd.  Go Eagles!
