On Tuesday, April 22nd, the Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse Team defeated Grand Island with a score of 12-8 improving their record so far this season to 5-0.  At this point in the season, the girls are ranked #1 in E.C.I.C. Division II and also have three of the league’s top five goal-scorers on the team, Lauren Scanlan (27 goals), Lindsay John (13 goals)  and Kelsey McKeown (8 goals). 
Against Grand Island, the girls were able to overcome by maintaining possession of the ball on attack as the whole team had difficulty defensively.  Lauren Scanlan led the way with Lake Shore’s scoring putting in 8 goals herself.  That gives her 27 goals so far this season making her the league leading goal scorer.  Lindsay John scored 2, giving her 13 this season and Shelby Will and Miranda Schultz each had 1.  Assists were made by Lindsay John, Kelsey McKeown, Lauren Scanlan and Cat McCulle all with 2 and Shelby Will with 1.  The attack was also made strong by Rose Russo, Brooke Gadomski and Jessica Tunis.  The defense came together in the second half helping to keep the ball away from goalkeeper Ashley Garrasi, who made 10 saves.  Defensive players included Brittany Mazzu, Destiny Sampson, Rachel Catalano, Katie Bacho and Amanda Thiel.  The girls continue league play against two strong league rivals this week.  On Thursday, April 24th the girls face West Seneca West at J.T. Waugh at 4:30 and on Saturday at 10:00 the girls face Hamburg at home. These teams have shown to be strong opponents in the past and are sure to bring challenging competition.  Come out and support the Lady Eagles to help cheer them on to victory! 

On Tuesday April 22nd, the Girls JV Lacrosse team played Grand Island and won 17-6. The girls worked well together to move the ball up the field to attack. Goals were scored by Laura Atkinson with 5, Marissa Haring with 4, Meagan Hayden with 3, Kalie Weinheimer with 2, Ashley Cournyea with 2 and Jessica Westley with 1. Assists came from Laura Atkinson, Amber Breeden, Ashley Friedman, Carie Orcutt, Sam Stepowski. Great game girls! Go Eagles!

The Boys Track team dominated West Seneca East yesterday with a score of 87 to 51. The Eagles swept the discus led by Alex Abramo throwing 134 feet.  Scott Dillon took first in the 2 mile with a time of 11.02, and Brett Farrell took first place in the long jump with a 17'11" leap. A final standout of the day was Steve Paternostro winning the 400 hurdles with a time of 57 seconds and breaking the school record in the 110 High Hurdles with a time of 14.9 seconds. Several athletes including Gary Ippolito, Josh Karter, Shawn Gubala, Francis Ridge, Zach Spaulding, Jake Thompson, Derek Owens and Nick Tyler all contributed with second and third place finishes. The Eagles will be home next Tuesday against West Seneca West.
