The JV softball team lost to Williamsville East yesterday 10 - 0. The Eagles had only 4 hits and left bases loaded twice without scoring anyone. The Flames were strong offensively recording 10 hits. The Eagle's next game is Monday, Aprl 28th against league rival Hamburg. Come support your Lady Eagles.
The Varsity Baseball team won their first league contest of the season by upsetting previously undefeated Williamsville East 9-3. Sophomore R.C. Hubbard tossed 4 1/3
innings of 1 run baseball to notch his first varsity victory. Kurby Driscoll had a sensational game behind the plate and went 2-4, with a triple and 3 rbi's. Jason Radwan was 2-3, including a tape measure homerun. Nick Ellington had a pair of hits, while Hubbard and Jim Evancho had a pair of rbi's. Dan Voncina tossed the first 2 2/3's innings, striking out 3. The team plays at Sweet Home tomorrow, and then travels to Cooperstown on Saturday morning.
The Boys JV Baseball team improved their record to 2 wins and 2 losses with a 14-4 win over Wills. East. The game was close throughout until the Eagles pulled away with a 9 run outburst in the bottom of the 6th inning. The Eagles were led by:
Jared Freeman who pitched a complete game 5 hitter;
Joe Juskiewicz, Tom Fritz and Mike Waring who each had 2 hits; and
Rene Rodriguez, Nick Caboot, Kyle Schmidle, Josh Gotsh, Jared Freeman, Bobby Heath, Curtis Cala and Mike Sciarrino who each chipped in a hit.
The Boy's Junior Varsity Lacrosse team continued its winning streak against Williamsville South 5-4. Ed Williams scored the game winner and Carl Stevens was very strong in goal. The team plays Friday at Williamsville East at 5:00pm.
There are twenty members on the Boys Varsity Tennis team
this year. Seniors lead the way with 8
players. Brian Brogan, Tom Castle, Scott Dragowski, Cory Farrel, Ryan Pattison,Eaman
Rayhn,David Smith and Dan Welch will be playing their last season for us. Two, Juniors,
Ryann McMillan and Dan Gian, join 6 Sophomores, 3 Freshmen and 1 Seventh
grader. Sophomores
are Drew Carlson, Chad Connors Lucas Maslach, Thomas O'Connor,Alex Schmittendorf
and Rick Sojda. Freshnen are Michael
Dingelday, Nate Jackson and Anthony
Suriani. This year we have a 7th
grader, Jonathan Weber. He will be
seeing a lot playing
time over the next six years.
Starters at
this point of the season are—Singles Players-Drew Carlson, Alex Schmittendorf and Jon
Weber. Doubles players –Tom Castle,
Rick Sojda, Dan Welch and Ryan McMillan.Tom and Rick are undefeated at First
Doubles with a 3-0 record.
The Eagles
are currently 0-3 in League play. They
have been beaten 4-1 by Sweet Home,3-2 by West
Seneca and 4-1 by Iroquois. The team is
hoping to turn around the record in the second
round of play.
