On Wednesday, April 30th, the Girls' Varsity Lacrosse Team suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of a well-prepared, eager Niagara-Wheatfield team. It was a very close game from start to finish and the final score ended up 10-11. The Lake Shore girls had the ball in the last few minutes of the game but were unable to put the ball in the net. A combination of passing and catching errors along with communication difficulty led to the girls' frustration and ultimately, their defeat. They are looking to redeem themselves as they continue with league play later this week. Our leading goal scorer of the day was Lindsay John who tried to pull the girls together on attack. She put 5 goals in the net and had 1 assist. This puts Lindsay with 24 goals on the season so far. Lauren Scanlan put 4 in the net with 1 assist. She is now at 38 goals this season. Shelby Will is credited with 1 goal and Lauren Stevens with 1 assist. The attack also consisted of Kelsey McKeown, Rose Russo, Cat McCulle and Brittany Mazzu. They will work on connecting more in the next game to get back on track. The defense was made up of Destiny Sampson, Katie Bacho, Emily Lemmo and Rachel Catalano who had difficulty taking the ball away from Niagara-Wheatfield. They will work on their communication to improve in the next game. Ashley Garrasi made 10 saves in net. The girls face West Seneca East on Friday at home at 4:30. It's sure to be a tough match up! Come support the girls as they look to continue their success this season!
