Our Character Education Theme for May is CourageThe weekly quotations are:
Week 1: It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be
the person you really are.
Week
2: It
takes great courage to admit to your mistakes.
Week
3: Courage
means doing what is right even when afraid.
Week 4: A
coward turns away from danger while the courageous person chooses to face
danger and ones fears directly.
Parents
- Have the April showers finally ended and will the
May flowers be in full bloom soon? In
Western New York that answer is always a mystery. I guess we will need to wait and see.
- Our first and second grade students will be
completing the Terra Nova Assessments beginning on May 13th and
ending on May 16th. Please
review the separate memorandum sent to you to help relieve any anxiety your
child may have about these examinations.
- Please remember to exercise your right to vote
during the Annual District Budget Vote that will be held on May 20th at
the Lake Shore Senior High School Main Lobby.
The polls open at 7:00 am and will remain open until 9:00 pm. Have a wonderful month!
- Our final book fair will be held on May 27th,
28th, and 29th.
Our PTG sponsors the fair, and as in the past we will be offering a "buy
one book get a second book free sale." This
is an excellent opportunity to encourage summer reading at an affordable
price. The PTG will hold their next
meeting on May 27th at 7:00 pm and all are invited to attend.
-
- On
May 30th, 2008, we will "Rocket Into Reading" as we hold our annual
Read-a-Thon Day. Additional information
regarding this exciting day will be forthcoming.
