On Wednesday, May 7, Lake Shore Girls' Varsity Lacrosse defeated Grand Island for the second time this season with a score of 15-9.  The girls have improved their record to 10-2-0 this season with four regular season games remaining.  The girls need to continue to work hard and give 100% in each of the remaining games in order to go into play-offs with a strong position.  All of the games that are left are against tough opponents and Lake Shore needs to be ready for anything. Ashley Garrasi made 9 saves in the game against Grand Island to help the team along with the win.  Some of E.C.I.C's leading goal-scorers led the way with our scoring.  Lauren Scanlan had 5 goals and 3 assists bringing her goal total to 56 so far.  Lindsay John added 3 goals and 4 assists bringing her goal total to 34 this season.  Kelsey McKeown added 3 goals and 2 assists bringing her goal total to 23 this season.  Shelby Will had 2 goals and 3 assists.  Lauren Stevens had 1 goal and 2 assists and Brittany Mazzu added 1 goal. Our attackers who helped to maintain possession of the ball and patiently create scoring opportunities included Cat McCulle, Rose Russo and Jessica Tunis. Grand Island's speed and passing has improved since the first time that Lake Shore played them which forced the defense to work harder and communicate more.  Emily Lemmo has become a stand out defender for Lake Shore picking up the most ground balls and out-running her opponents making smooth transitions into Lake Shore's attacking zone.  Emily was joined by the smart defensive play of Destiny Sampson, Katie Bacho, Rachel Catalano and Kelsey Lay.  The girls have one remaining game this week against West Seneca West.  West has, no doubt, improved since the first time we played them earlier in the season.  Lake Shore will work hard over the next few days to prepare for this game and the upcoming games next week against Hamburg and Niagara-Wheatfield.  Our last home game will be on Monday, May 19th against Iroquois.  This will be the seniors final regular season home game.  Please come out and support the girls and the seniors who have worked so hard to make this team successful.  Go Lady Eagles!!!
