On Friday the Lady Eagles Varsity Softball team took on division leading Williamsville
East and nearly knocked off the #1 team.  The Eagles got excellent pitching from
Senior Captain Carla Trinca-Conley and played great defense holding the high scoring
East offense to just one run through 6 innings.  Kelsey Anthon ended East's no- hitter
with one out in the 7th.  Despite the loss, the Lady Eagles are showing much improvement.

On Saturday and Sunday the Lady Eagles varsity softball team participated in the Immaculata tournament at the Hamburg NIKE base.  In their first contest, the Eagles lost
a defensive battle with St. Mary's of Lancaster 3-2.  Carla Trinca-Conley pitched another great game allowing just 6 hits.  Jill Reitz, Kalie Michalski and Trinca-Conley had hits for the Eagles.
After the loss to St. Mary's the Eagles moved into the bronze bracket and faced a must win game with a strong Sacred Heart squad.  Kelsy Anthon got the win, pitching a complete game.  After falling behind 2-0, Katherine Caboot doubled and scored on Kailiegh Hubbard's double.  Freshman catcher Ashleigh Mancini ripped a triple and scored on Jill Reitz sacrifice fly.  The Eagles took advantage 2 walks and a rare balk to lead 4-2
in the 4th inning.  Sacred Heart tied the game at 4 in the 6th, but the Eagles would not give up as Hubbard scored the winning run that allowed the Eagles a chance to play on Sunday.
On Sunday the Lady Eagles faced Holy Angels for a chance to play in the championship game.  The Eagles brought their bats to this one and put pressure on Holy Angels scoring runs every inning winning 13-5 in 5 innings.  Carla Trinca-Conley got the win.  Lead off hitter Jill Reitz was on base and scored all for times with a single and 3 walks.  Big hits were a bases loaded triple by Katherine Caboot and a two run double by Kelsey Anthon.
Andrea Reitz, Paige Anderson, Kalie Michalski, Kaileigh Hubbard, Ashleigh Mancini, and Liz Inglut all added hits for the Eagles.
In the championship game the Lady Eagles faced Mt. St. Mary's. The Eagles were lead by pitcher Carla Trinca-Conley's brilliant one hit performance and the teams stellar defense which did not allow a runner past second base until the deciding seventh inning.  Despite nine hits in the game the Eagles could not score a run, leaving runners at third base in 4 innings and losing a hard fought battle 1-0.  Despite the loss the Eagles are pleased with their improved play and look forward to league games this week at Sweet Home and Hamburg.
Although many more Eagles were deserving of awards, congratulations to catcher Ashleigh Mancini and center fielder Jill Reitz who were named to the All - Tournament team.
