The Boys Modified Lacrosse team dropped a hard fought 5-3 decision at the hands of the Flames of Williamsville East on Monday. Clark Brueckl scored his first goal of the season, Clayton Chachulski was solid in the net and Dennis Rammacher was strong on the defensive end. The next game is at Iroquois at 5 PM on Wednesday.

On Monday, May 12th, the Girls' Varsity Lacrosse Team took on top division rival, Hamburg, in a battle from beginning to end.  The girls went into the game knowing that Hamburg would be very well-prepared and looking to win after Lake Shore defeated them 8-7 in their first meeting earlier in the season.  The girls knew that they would have to defend better, attack more quickly and take advantage of every scoring opportunity that was given to them.  After a hard fought first half, Lake Shore was down, and needed a few goals not only to catch up, but to go ahead.  Play was evenly matched as the second half began, but Hamburg soon pulled ahead to a 9-6 lead on Lake Shore with only about 8 minutes remaining in the game.  At that point, the girls knew what needed to be done and they didn't let anything stop them.  The defense held Hamburg's attack off and the attack managed to tie up the game 9-9 until finally, with 7 seconds left in the game, Brittany Mazzu put the winning goal in the net.  The final score ended up 10-9, Lake Shore on top!  This win gives Lake Shore a record of 12-2-0 with two regular season games remaining.  Ashley Garrasi made a big difference in goal, especially in the last few minutes of the game, making 10 saves in the game.  Goals were scored by the team work of the determined and energized attack.  Lindsay John had 3 goals and 3 assists.  Cat McCulle had 3 goals.  Lauren Scanlan had 2 goals and 1 assist.  Shelby Will had 1 goal and Lauren Stevens had 1 assist.  Brittany Mazzu had the game winning goal in the final seconds of the game.  On attack, the hard work of Kelsey McKeown, Rose Russo ad Jessica Tunis made a big difference in the final result.  Our defense did its best to keep some of the area's leading goal scorers from Hamburg away from our goal.  The defense included Emily Lemmo, Destiny Sampson, Rachel Catalano, Brittany Mazzu and Katie Bacho.  The girls celebrated with excitement as this game came to an end.  The girls' effort and dedication to the game was evident in their ability to come back from a deficit and win against a strong team like Hamburg.  There are two remaining games against Niagara-Wheatfield and Iroquois for the girls.  The final regular season game is Monday, May 19th at J.T. Waugh at 4:30.  Come support the girls as they look to finish their season on a high note and move right into play-offs!  Go Lady Eagles!!!

Yesterday the Modified Baseball team avenged an early season loss to Starpoint by beating them at home 17-7 this helped improve their record to 5-3-1.  Chris conley pitched a complete game and also went 4 for 4 at the plate.  Other notable performances in the game were John Inglut and Jason Mende who both hit triples,  Kyle Eastman and Chris Koszuta both went 2 for 2 with Koszuta hitting 2 doubles.  Congratulations to all the players on a fine performance.  On Wednesday the team travels to Pioneer to finish out the season.  Game time is at 4:30.
