The Girls J.V. Volleyball Team had a tremendous weekend. On Friday they traveled to Sweet Home and rallied to win the match by taking the 2nd game 25-23, and the 3rd game 25-20. The girls swept the season series against Sweet Home! Then, on Saturday the girls were one of 14 teams invited to the North Tonawanda Tournament. In pool play the girls split games between the host team North Tonawanda, and Sacred Heart. The girls swept their last pool-play match against Clarence, beating them soundly 27-26, and 25-13. In the first round of the playoffs, Lake Shore defeated Orchard Park by a score of 33-31! The Eagles were led by Kalie Michalski, Taryn White, Samantha Dawley, and Allison Lonkey. Brooke Walker, Kiarra Majors, and Jessica Ludwig controlled the net, and Ashley Cournyea and Mackenzie Spaulding supplied great defensive play. The Eagles lost in the semifinals, to eventual tournament champion, Lancaster in a hard fought game 23-30. The Eagles ended up finishing 3rd in the tournament. Next up for the Eagles is a road game to rival Starpoint on Tuesday October, 7.
On Saturday Morning the Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving Team
traveled to Jamestown. Many close races yeilded a final score of 123
to 53 in favor of Jamestown.
Notible performances came from Kalina Bracco in the 50 Freestyle,
Marguerite O'Connor in the 100 Freestyle, Kaite Bartha in the 500
Freestyle And the 200 Freestyle relay of Marguerite O'Connor, Kalina
Bracco, Hailey Kane and Bethany Davis.
Tuesday the Lady Eaglerays host the Clarence Devils at 5 PM.
This past Friday the Boys Volleyball Team suffered a loss at the hands of Frontier in a non league match up. Frontier defeated Lake Shore with scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-19. Justin Zybert lead the team with 8 kills and 9 digs while Jim Nappo added 7 kills and 9 blocks. Tonight the boys hope to bounce back when the host division rival Amherst with a JV start time of 5:00 with Varsity to follow.
The Boys JV Soccer team lost on Friday by a score of 3-0 against Williamsville East. The Eagles played well but were unable to score or generate enough offense in this match-up. The team did improve from the previous game against Williamsville though. Chris Duffey played in goal for Lake Shore and made several big saves. The team's next game is Tuesday vs. Sweet Home at 4:30.
