As the new school year approaches, the faculty and staff of Lake Shore Central Middle School are planning an orientation session for all incoming sixth grade students and students new to the district attending the Middle School. Students and their parents are invited to an orientation session, which will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014. Registration will be at 8:00 AM with the program itself running from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM. At the orientation, students will have an opportunity to tour the school building and attend an information session on extracurricular programs. If you have any questions, please contact the Middle School main office, at 926-2400.
In late November, the whole student body took a spelling test in their ELA classes to try and qualify for our school’s annual spelling bee. Fifty students competed in the middle school auditorium on December 19th. Zachary Wilson was the school champion for the second year in a row. School champions from across WNY had to take an online test conducted by the Buffalo News on February 6th.
On Tuesday, November 26th, the Lake Shore Middle School participated in a “Movember” fundraiser. Mr. Piede, along with Mr. Reed, Mr. Kowal, and Mr. Dziewa, grew fantastic mustaches during the month of November to help raise awareness and “change the face of men’s health.” On November 26, donations were raised for Roswell Park Cancer Institutue. Any participating student got to wear a mustache for the day at school!
This year, Lake Shore Middle School had five students accepted to perform with the Junior High Area-All State Band, String Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, and Chorus. This is a high honor for these students and for the Lake Shore Community and we are so proud of them.
